About It Lurks Below

Eight classes offer distinct tools, from necromancer minions to a rogue’s stealth or a warrior’s stances. Randomized item stats, secrets and bosses shape dungeon expeditions. Returning to the surface provides farming, crafting and town buildings, with additional structures unlocked as you descend.

What makes it worth a look?

  • Creative removes survival pressures and invasions while keeping the survival tree and unlocking many building supplies; monsters remain underground. Descent removes hunger, fatigue and the survival tree. Survival keeps those systems and invasions.
  • Survival and Descent can enable Hardcore, allowing only one death.
  • Bards use passive area damage and buffs. Clerics wear heavy armor and heal, uniquely choosing a mace-and-shield melee setup or a ranged wand.
  • Enchanters stun with lightning and can become a flying wisp. Necromancers combine undead skull minions with poison, cold damage and self-buffs.
  • Paladins dash with two-handed swords or hammers and consecrate the ground. Rogues combine stealth with dual daggers, while Warriors switch offensive or defensive stances and use whirlwind attacks.
  • Wizards bring elemental area spells, a drake companion and teleportation.
  • Gather food, cook vegetables, cut wood and mine ore to support farming and crafted armor, rings or potions.

Is this game right for you or your group?

  • Choose the survival pressure. Creative, Descent and Survival differ in their needs, invasions and survival-tree access.
  • Connect dungeon and town. Descending unlocks structures that support survival, storage and customization on the surface.
