About Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes

The Dark Church has killed the kingdom’s heroes and knights, leaving a much less respectable band to oppose it. Hire dubious soldiers and rescue followers as the party travels between villages and sinister dungeons, poking fun at familiar fantasy-RPG conventions.

The cast includes the self-important Holy Avatar, the vampire Solitaire and the volatile angel Angelina. Turn-based battles and large bosses test the group, while quests, trade, levels and equipment develop its members. Multiple-choice conversations and dialogue puzzles add problems to solve away from combat.

What makes it worth a look?

  • A party of personalities: Ten antiheroes bring an intentionally unlikely cast to the story.
  • Tactical encounters: Turn-based combat includes large boss fights.
  • Conversation challenges: Dialogue choices and adventure-style puzzles complement the battles.

Is this game right for you or your group?

  • For RPG parody. The story and dialogue make familiar fantasy conventions part of the joke.
  • For tactics with conversations between fights. Party development and equipment sit alongside dialogue puzzles, rather than leaving every obstacle to combat.
