After a prison ship crashes into an ancient facility, a team of survivors must find a route to the surface while protecting its power source. Exploring new rooms brings resources, threats and decisions about where to build defenses. Dungeon of the Endless combines dungeon discovery with roguelike structure and tower-defense planning, so it belongs in a clearly labeled strategy-hybrid category.

Heroes can be equipped and developed, while Dust powers rooms and defensive modules help hold back monster waves. Finding a floor's exit is only part of the job: the crystal must be carried there safely. Steam supports solo play and online cooperation for up to four players. Its macOS listing specifies old versions, so modern Mac compatibility needs particular attention. If managing a team under pressure is the part that interests you, Darkest Dungeon offers turn-based expeditions and roster attrition in place of this crystal-defense hybrid.
